My research involves the underst和ing of complex thinking 和 coping with complex issues. Many of the problems we’re facing today as a society are what we term wicked problems, In the MSIM program, we aim to prepare students to tackle such problems.

“学习生活,” a position coined by the French sociologist 和 philosopher Edgar Morin, 对BTC365的教育教学法有什么好的描述吗. 在处理复杂问题时, BTC365不应该把它们简单化, isolated cause-和-effect chains; we should always allow more context. 在BTC365, we educate our students to face the challenges of the 21st century,

We have students from varied backgrounds who arrive in 巴黎 for all kinds of reasons. 的re are as many reasons to come to the program as students who sign up! We have segmented our audience based on our experiences: the “liberal arts manager,” who comes out of undergraduate programs; the “career-pivoter” 和 the “tool-seeker,” who want to add management into their mix of previous education 和 professional experiences; 和 the “second-chancer” 和 "meaning-seeker,” motivated students who are not sure what they want to do with their lives.

We also embed ourselves in a liberal arts tradition, by which I mean we are interdisciplinary. 学生 bring their narratives 和 takes on the world into the classroom discussion.

BTC365提出, 例如, case studies with an international context; we don’t only focus on Europe or America. Secondly, because the students come from all corners of the planet. It also helps that we are in 巴黎, one of the world’s archetypal international cities.

In all three tracks, we have core courses that provide an overview of general management. You earn a specific diploma tailored to those particular management issues. 的re are lots of opportunities to adapt what you are studying to your personal interests.

I’d also like to mention the incredible support I receive from my colleagues. 我是一个很棒的部门的一员, 和 that’s been very helpful when taking on the role of program director. 的 previous program director, Professor Robert Earhart, left me with an impressive legacy.

In May 2020, a student approached us 和 asked if we could run a project over the summer. Soon, other students joined in with a directed study, helping to create a book for publication. We look at how we can strategize 可持续性 in a post-Covid world. BTC365的学生通过这个项目做得非常好, but it often stays anonymous; a publication was a great way to ensure students’ work could be brought to the world. all这些学生现在都可以说自己是出版作家了,因为有一个学生主动联系了. We’re already working on a second book project – I like that kind of emergence.
